Studying these days can be a struggle whether you’re getting distracted by TikTok or your flatmates. Before you know it, an hour goes by, and you still haven’t written a single word.

Don’t worry, we’ve all been there, so that’s why we have come up with a checklist you should go through before you even start with your studies.

  1. Put your phone on silent mode and place it somewhere out of reach. At the start of every study session make a conscious effort to put your phone on silent mode or if that’s not enough then switch it completely off and place it into a draw out of reach from you. This way you won’t have the urge to check your phone when an incoming message pops up constantly.
  2. Make sure you get plenty of sleep. As a uni student, this might sound like a myth, sleep who needs it? Well, sleep is so vital if you want to perform well. Not getting enough sleep can affect you in all ways like your memory, concentration, and brain function as well as making you easily distracted.
  3. Use tools to help prioritize your tasks. Multitasking is a word that uni students are very familiar with, however, we all can get distracted. And that’s why it’s always handy to make a habit of writing everything you have to do on paper therefore when completing a task, you can have the satisfaction of ticking it off.
  4. Take a brief study break now and then. Taking study breaks can be very beneficial than trying to work continuously throughout the day without stopping. Every hour you should get up and take a short break of 20 minutes, helping you refresh and stay focused when going back to studying.
